How to Travel with Metro Trains Melbourne

All travellers on Metro Trains Melbourne MUST have a prepaid stored value
myki card
with credit on it. You can purchase Myki cards from any Melbourne railway station, from Myki vending machines at railway stations, major downtown tram stops and Melbourne Airport. You can also purchase Myki cards at 7-eleven stores across Melbourne's suburbs. You CANNOT purchase myki cards or add credit to a myki card on board trains.

You MUST validate your myki card before each train trip by 'touching on' at the the lime green coloured myki validators or by using it to pass through the Myki station access gates. The validator will beep to confirm your trip is paid and valid. You should also always 'touch off' after you reach your destination. Myki fares are charged at a flat rate no matter where you travel in Melbourne, however if your travel is entirely within zone 2 you will be charged a lower fare.

Would you like to help us?

We are an independent small business running on the smell of an oily rag. If you would like to help us, even the smallest contribution to our running costs can make a big difference. By ensuring we can keep paying our web hosting, data communications and software costs, we will be able to focus on keeping our maps and databases up to date.

Every little bit helps, and yes that really means as little as just one dollar (AU$1).
