What are the COVID impacts on Public Transport?

Ferries are deemed essential services and all routes are operating according to normal timetables. HOWEVER, social distancing provisions mean that the number of passengers permitted to board any ferry is limited, and if a ferry reaches that maximum capacity it will NOT pick up further passengers. Your wait for a ferry with sufficient available space on board may be longer than normal.

How to Travel with Sydney Ferries

Sydney ferries are un-reserved 'turn up and go' services. Fares are covered by the
Opal
system. If you don't have an Opal card, you can use your credit card to tap on at the ferry wharf before you board your ferry and tap off after you arrive at your destination. Just look for the brightly coloured Opal validators or entry gates at the entrance and exit to each ferry wharf. If you do not touch on before boarding your ferry you may be fined for travelling without a ticket. If you do not touch off at your destination you may be charged more than you need to pay. All fares, whether you use your Opal card or your credit card, are calculated by distance travelled.

Would you like to help us?

We are an independent small business running on the smell of an oily rag. If you would like to help us, even the smallest contribution to our running costs can make a big difference. By ensuring we can keep paying our web hosting, data communications and software costs, we will be able to focus on keeping our maps and databases up to date.

Every little bit helps, and yes that really means as little as just one dollar (AU$1).
