Re: Victorian Rail Maps

Australian Rail Maps has been online since 1996. Here's one of the earliest versions of our Melbourne map - from November 1996. The structure of the map is very recognisable in comparison to today's version, but those colours! There have been a number of changes to the actual network itself - notabl...

Re: NSW Rail Maps

Going back to 1996, the first year of online Australian Rail Maps, here's one of our first maps.
Yes, not exactly beautiful, but there wasn't all that much else online at the time.

NSW Rail Maps

It's missing a few details and has a couple of errors, but this map of NSW railways does have quite a bit of detail. It's missing detail around the cities of the East, the lines to Lette, Mount Hope and Condong are missing, and Cobar and Albury are in the wrong places - but all in all, it has most l...

Victorian Rail Maps

Here's a scan of the western half of a Golden Fleece road map of Victoria dating from March 1962. Whilst it's a road map, like most maps of that era, it features railways prominently (as all good maps should). There are lots of intriguing and long gone railways still showing on this map. GoldenFleec...

Re: Which travel card?

Hi Simon, There is no one single card that covers that entire trip, but you can do it with two. The section from Melbourne to Sydney and Brisbane is covered by the Discovery Pass. Then, travel in Queensland is covered by the Queensland Explorer Pass or a Queensland coastal Pass (if you are a visitor...
