SmartRider is a reusable smart card, which allows easy, hassle free travel on TransPerth train, bus and ferry services in the SmartRider region across metropolitan Perth from Two Rocks in the north to Dawesville and Pinjarra in the south and to Mundaring and Wundowie in the east. SmartRider is fully multi-modal, so you can travel on trains, buses and the ferry and interchange freely within the validity of your ticket.

Buy your SmartRider card for $10 at Perth station, Perth Busport, Elizabeth Quay busport or at one of 60 Retail outlets across the Perth suburban area.

Simply tag on when you board your bus or enter the railway station, and tag off when you get off the bus or leave the station.

Transperth SmartRider fares are valid for a limited time and this time varies depending on how far you are travelling. A Short Distance ticket (also known as a 2 section ticket) is valid only for a simgle trip. If you travel between one and four zones, your fare is valid for unlimited travel for two hours, and if you travel five or more zones, your fare is valid for unlimited travel for three hours.

Children less than 5 years old travel free and do not require a ticket, but all other travellers must have a valid Smartrider card (or ticket). Students attending Primary or Secondary school are entitled to Student fares, and should purchase a student SmartRider card. Seniors card holders (60+), Aged Pensioners, Carers, Veterans, War widows, war widowers and holders of WA Health Care cards are entitled to Concession fares, and should purchase a concession SmartRider card.

If you do not have a SmartRider card, you can alternatively purchase paper tickets with cash from vending machines at railway stations, ferry jetties and from bus drivers, but note that change will not be given, so you must tender the exact fare.
